Emma McGuigan, judge at The Hacker Games 2018, discusses why employers need to be able to provide creative ways for people to demonstrate the skills and capability, and give them the chance to make a difference.

Emma is the Group Technology Officer for Comms, Media & Technology at Accenture. She’s been named as one of the 50 most influential women in UK Tech by Computer Weekly magazine in both 2015 and 2016.

WHAT
IS IT?

The Hacker Games is an annual 48-hour charity Hackathon started by Knowit in 2017.

We aim to put some of the best minds and companies in a room to compete, all while addressing real world issues and making a difference through the power of digital technology.

24 hours prior to the event, we announce the brief which asks team to spend two days designing and building a product that would benefit the lives of the people affected by our chosen charity.

The results have been mind blowing!
